image WRIGHT AND TISSANDIER, 1909 Black and white photograph, 7½ x 9½ inches, mounted. Bonhams hosts the 'Space History Sale' on 26th April in New York. They title this piece (lot no. 1010) "FROM CARRIAGES TO FLYING MACHINES" stating "One of the most extraordinary images in the history of flight: Wilbur Wright and his pupil Paul Tissandier soar over three horse-drawn carriages and their drivers in January 1909. In the background, a horse starts at the plane, unaware that his role as a method of transport is on the wane, and that he is witnessing the future." Direct link
