WES COOLEY REPLICA
As the splendid site states: "JB Retro Racing's intention is to re-produce the bikes of "Wes Cooley" (and may be some where in there to re-capture our youth too). These bikes have been moulded and enhanced from the bog stock Suzuki GS1000 that can be bought from your local dealer showrooms. You will be able to follow the bikes after being rescued from various states of unrepair and depression, then watch as their sad and sorry story unfolds into one of high glamour and admiration that they so truly deserve..Born out of the desire to re-capture the heady ground braking days of the 1980s road race era". Indeed the full 'restoration' / building is coherently catalogued on their site.

FORD CAPRI 3000GT
"This is a very rare and interesting Capri with a great histor. Inspired by the success of the Mustang 'pony car' in the USA, Ford introduced the Capri - 'The car you've always promised yourself' - to the European market in 1968. Towards the end of 1973 it was decided to develop a high-performance 'RS' Capri for the UK market using an over-bored version of the Dagenham-built 3.0-litre V6 engine. Enlarged to 3,091cc and treated to a mild porting job, this unit produced 148bhp, which was good enough for a top speed of 124mph with 60mph coming up in around 7 seconds. Matt black bumpers, AVO-type alloy wheels, 'racing' stripes and a boot spoiler made the RS easily distinguishable from the Capri GT on which it was based, while beneath the skin the RS2600-type suspension had been softened somewhat to improve the ride quality. RS3100 production began in November 1973 and ceased in February 1974 when the Capri MkII was announced. Today this rare model is one of the most highly sought after of all sporting Fords. It was decided to restore the Capri in the style of its ultimate incarnation - the 3100RS - stripping the bodyshell back to bare metal and repainting it in Ford Sebring Red with correct black bonnet. The engine is a new 3100RS Stage 4 unit that has had only 200 miles put on its bores since the restoration's completion in 2009. A Janspeed exhaust is currently fitted. The previous owners book recounting the story of the rebuild comes with the car." The car has a long tax and MOT, a superb history file and is ready to show or use.

'JULES'
Built in 1981 by Thierry de Montcorge and Michel Mockrycki for the 10,000km Paris Dakar safari rally.
Thierry de Montcorge, a competitive rally driver was having dinner with some friends and was bet that he couldn't race a Rolls in the Paris Dakar rally. He took it on and swiftly found funding from Christian Dior who wanted to promote their new fragrance "Jules" a name the Rolls is often dubbed with. The body, which only weights 80 Kg, is a polyester molding of the original one (only the doors, boot and hood are made of aluminium), and the dashboard is the original one. As for the chassis, Thierry de Montcorgé et Michel Mokrycki started from scratch to create a tubular chassis. So as to be raced in the desert, the car had to be fitted with a 4 wheel drive system. This was done with two Toyota Land Cruiser axles fitted to the car. The original automatic gearbox was replaced by a Toyota manual 4 speed one. As for the engine, Michel Mokrycki chose a 5.7 L Chevy V8. Last but not least, a big 330 Liters fuel tank was fitted behind the seats in a cenral position. At the half-way point the Rolls was ranked at an excellent thirteenth place (out of 170 entries). Unfortunately, a broken steering axle lead to an accident and the the Rolls was disqualified, but kept on racing to finish the race. It was one of the only 40 cars to reach Dakar. The vehicle is offered for sale at ClassicCarsForSale.co.uk (see link below).

BLUE VEGA
This super-rare kit is for sale on e-bay. It will build a replica of Jungle Jim Liberman’s Blue Vega funny car circa 1973. Some of Jim Liberman's paint schemes were wonderful, not let down here by Revell's decals for the model. We couldn't post this item without including a picture of 'Jungle Pam' - Liberman's ever present girl on the 1970's drag strip circuit. This picture is by photographer Bob McClurg who "snuck up on Pam in the burnout area at OCIR one Saturday to catch her un-pretentous smile". As (the rather good) website 'Motosport Productions' - where you can buy the picture of Jungle Pam - writes "You’d be hard-pressed to say who was hotter back in the ’70s – “Jungle Pam” in her go -go boots, short-shorts, and titillating tops… or “Jungle Jim” Liberman’s rubber-melting burnouts, wheel stands, and screaming up and down the length of the drag strip backwards. Liberman was arguably one of the most flamboyant and memorable showmen on the funny car circuit, who knew better than anyone what the crowd wanted – and hiring the 18 year old tall, dark and sexy “Jungle Pam” Hardy as his sassy staging sidekick was a calculated stroke of marketing genius. But she was no lightweight – she quickly learned to turn a wrench, know her way around cars, the crowds, and the scene– the fans loved her."

1939 'GHOST CAR'
“ The 1939 Pontiac Plexiglas Deluxe Six "Ghost Car" was the highlight of 1939-40 New York World’s Fair and was the first transparent car built in America. On the chassis of a 1939 Pontiac Deluxe Six, GM collaborated with Rohm & Haas, the chemical company that had recently developed Plexiglas. The world’s first transparent acrylic sheet product, Plexiglas was a serendipitous discovery arising from Rohm & Haas’ work with laminated safety glass. Using drawings for the Pontiac four-door Touring Sedan, Rohm & Haas constructed an exact replica body using Plexiglas in place of the outer sheet-metal. The structural metal underneath was given a copper wash, and all hardware, including the dashboard, was chrome plated. Rubber moldings were made in white, as were the car’s tires. It reportedly cost $25,000 to build – an astronomical figure in those days. The car rides on its original U.S. Royal all-white tires and sports the correct white rubber running boards. From the beginning it was a running car, although extensive use would have been unduly detrimental. The odometer currently reads 86 miles. The only recent mechanical work has been replacement of the fuel lines”. To be auctioned on 30th July through RM Auctions at The Inn at St. John's, 44045 Five Mile Road, Plymouth , Michigan.
