Graduating from Central St Martin’s in 2008, Jessica de Lotz already enjoys an exalted reputation for her deeply thoughtful and distinctive work. She won the coveted ‘Coutts New Jewellers Award’ in 2009. Governed by her predilection for age and nostalgia, her collections are invariably inspired by echoes from the past - ‘narrative based tributes reflecting on the social lives of objects and the history of their owner’s’. This beautifully-realised solid silver seal pendant, plated in yellow or rose gold) and encrusted with black diamonds and garnets, was created after Jessica’s prize encounter with a tiny, old tin found in a flea market in Paris which was bursting with little mementoes of a long distance love affair. It is a profoundly personal piece – made more so by the fact that the recipient’s initials can be stamped on the clasp for an additional cost of £45.
