Suha Bekki has been visiting, researching and photographing the ancient city of Petra in Jordan for over 20 years. Since being a student at the Architectural Association in London, a camera is the tool she has chosen to explore the sublime atmosphere of this the Red Rose City and her sensual close-up images evoke extraordinary emotional interaction with their audience. The sand stone becomes a living flesh, vibrating with light and colour yet remains unfathomably mysterious. Suha was the first student to exhibit at the Architectural Association (AA) as a sole photographic exhibition in 1992, Sensual Sands then followed by Craving Caves in 1995. This collection of photographs is taken from the very beautiful Sensual Sands.
